That’s why we offer 4 different educational leadership programs, each geared toward unique phases of your career and goals set for your future. Choose from:
- M.S. Ed. in Advanced Leadership Studies: Designed to help education professionals meet the New York state (NYS) certification eligibility requirements for school district leadership
- Advanced Certificate in Advanced Leadership Studies: Designed to help education professionals meet the New York State (NYS) certification eligibility requirements for school district leadership
- M.S. Ed. in School Building Leadership: Helps education professionals meet the New York state (NYS) certification eligibility requirements
- Advanced Certificate in School Building Leadership: Designed to help professionals who already have a master’s degree meet the New York state (NYS) certification eligibility requirements

Gain Real-World Experience
Each program curriculum requires students to complete internships and other hands-on learning experiences designed to immerse them in the world of their careers. For example, the M.S. Ed. in Advanced Leadership Studies requires an internship totaling 250 hours of leadership experience at the district level, while the M.S. Ed. in School Building Leadership requires that students complete an internship totaling 400 hours of leadership experience in their current schools.

Each of Manhattan’s educational leadership programs is designed with clear career trajectories in mind, depending on each student’s goals and passions. Some examples for each educational leadership program area include:
- Advanced Leadership Studies: Superintendent, college professor, school administrator and more
- School Building Leadership: Principal, headmaster, teacher leader and more
Graduates of Manhattan’s educational leadership programs have achieved successful careers with prominent educational institutions, such as the New York City Department of Education, the Archdiocese of New York, and numerous public and private-school districts.
Educational Leadership Programs Application Requirements
- Applicants for master’s programs must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or institution.
- Applicants for advanced certificates must hold a bachelor’s and master’s degree, both from accredited institutions.
- GPA average of 3.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.
- Possess an initial, provisional, permanent or professional certificate or the equivalent, or provide appropriate and acceptable evidence of potential for instructional leadership.
- Each program may have other program-specific requirements.
